You cannot skyrocket by holding positions or tracing flowcharts, unless you knew the three C’s: cohere, cooperate and consolidate.

Personal career buildout is universal. Regardless you are an undergrad student, a company techie, an outfit stylist, a medic or in any profession, a university degree is just not essential. You’ll also need some soft skills, qualities that help weld everyone together. By showing that you have what it takes to be a leader, you can fast-track your career. There are many different types of leaders, but very few people are natural. Most of us need to learn, develop and improve on how to be a good leader. Written below are some key takeaway qualities-

1. Taking Initiatives - The one who wants to mature as a leader learns competencies that fall beyond your primary knowledge. The more actively you volunteer, the more progressively you’ll pick up. Taking a greater level of responsibility creates a majestic impression in the mind of observer and you’ll notice mentees turning up to follow your path. When the D-day arrives, you’ll already have a track record of many initiatives you took up to make you feel self-proud.

2. Critical Thinking - A leader’s mind can foresee. It can be potential opportunities that you want to strike when the iron is hot or problems that you want to settle which might make an appearance. In simple words, develop on your proactive skills- do not wait till the zero hour, strategize things in advance and keep a backup plan ready. In this whole process, a leader never negatively burdens the team nor allows them to take the credit alone.

You may feel diluted to ease off, but remember successful plans require strict execution. A career achievement which is time-bound and at a firm hand is a rebel to your lethargy. A leader is torn yet committed, tired yet obsessed.

4. Delegation - A smart figure senses their core axis and appoints other men to perform the secondary tasks. Leaders rarely micromanage, they delegate- shift the work load downwards. It is beneficial because, your followers feel empowered and second you’ll be restricted to moulding the heart. An important point here is that giving work to the less proficient will only have you put in extra efforts. Delegation is a cautious activity.

5. Active Listening - A leader’s ears should be as sharp as a dolphin. Without judging prematurely, you should always listen to the speaker’s opinion. As an important step towards communication, you’ll get fair feedbacks and an upright review of what your project members feel. Listening is not just hearing- body gesture, facial expressions, attentiveness, eye contact and response matter too.

6. Inspire Others - Human psyche may lose zest, the leader motivates. It is important here that the leader thyself is self-motivated, otherwise the whole team will end up depressed. Depleting interest in ambition can be because of repetitive attempts or tight deadlines, a leader replaces them with a Friday lunch/afternoon snacks and sets attainable weekly goals.

Good Leadership can be imbibed by way of gaining influential skills, making analytical decision and forming unity. If you already know the three I’s- integrity, insight and inclusiveness, show the way.
