“It was hard to let them go until we realized they had set foot in a new dawn.”

To cherish a whole year of ebbs and flows, scolding and, achievements, Saksham organized a reviving farewell for the beloved batch of 2022 to keep open their memory bank, those sweet echoes in the corridors, once more. The day began with some refreshing activities like singing and fun games and ended with a mood where one would laugh their head off, but with a lump in their throat. The day had all delicious refreshments, warm video representations, giving titles and gifts, entertainment, and endless picture clicks, for the moment was a one, one would never wish to end. It was a new stage, a raw station that felt like a magic carpet. It all started with shaking new hands, sharing wooden benches, Monday mornings in the library, and Friday evenings in the canteen until all went offbeat. We never knew time was ticking. It was fun doing society's work, those rickshaw rides, stealing markers, discovering some aesthetic lanes, boasting our punishments as achievements, swallowing the whole book an evening before that test, helping a friend cope with despair, that pat on the back from a favourite senior, dancing on beats we can murmur forever. We never knew time was ticking. It all started with a proper child who would comb their hair and dress properly, to a person who would fit clothes with bread butter in their mouth, to a grown-up who could survive hours on a glass of juice because we had ‘important responsibilities.’ Started with an innocent who would see their seniors working and also absorbing a smart thinker who wanted to try tasks out, to a leader who can instruct the team and ensure that no one felt left out. Again, we never knew time was ticking. We were so soft to realize those good things come to an end. College life was more than just scoring high CGPA’s, there were our close-to-heart professors who taught practicality, it was more than just sticking to academics, we indeed turned into great event organizers, and it was more than just spending on your food, we would save a bite for that stupid friend or maybe that dog who waits in the parking area. We here realized that time was ticking and were too unbothered to care for the future; we became ‘live-in-the-moment’ beings.

There is no comfort in the word “farewell,” say it in any language, the word promises absolutely nothing. So, the dearest batch of 2022, is a “fresh spring,” a reward for the new challenges that you’ll have to fight. Tomorrow when we look to become a part of your world, may we look for familiar faces. You have left us with an abundance of knowledge and leadership skills, we could have gained no better than with anyone else in the room. Nobody in the team will ever forget the nights we woke up together to get work finished, those meetings on the ground that sounded more like moral lessons, that university education remains idle until you are capable to pen it down in reality. You left in us a part of yours. May we be able to carry your legacy. May you be able to achieve heights and gift your parents what you’ve always dreamt of. Cheers to new beginnings, Batch of 2022!
